Despite it being an incredibly busy time for Evgeniya and her husband and partner Craig, she found the time to give us a quick interview:
What first inspired you to dance?
I have always been a very active child, when I was 9 my mum took me to the dance school she found out about from another mum.
Their daughter stopped dancing quite soon, but you couldn’t drag me out of there. I was hooked!
What is your favorite dance/performance ever and why?
Probably when we danced the tango at the University Finals, it was at the spectacular Winter Gardens ballroom on that huge floor to Empress Orchestra live music. I had goose bumps from the start to the finish.
What has been your favorite career highlight?
Being invited to represent Great Britain in the International Team Match during the British Open Dance Festival. It is always such an honour and incredibly memorable.
Results wise, becoming All England Champions, European Dance Finalists and achieving 1st placings in UK Closed Championships.
What has been the biggest challenge of your career?
staying focused on yourself and not letting anyone get in your bubble. It’s the only way you can create an atmosphere in a couple.
If you hadn’t become a dancer, what else might you have done?
I probably would’ve tried myself as an actress, I love movies and I think It’s a lot of fun to be able to act/live another life on stage.
What is your pre-performance routine/superstitions?During preparation we push ourselves physically and mentally so when we get to the competition we feel invincible.
On the day of the performance I try not to build up a lot of importance around an event. I focus on my body, my partner and the music.
That’s all I need. No other stress needed.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given as a dancer?
Believe in yourself and find satisfaction in improving.
Results are not important.
What’s the best piece of advice you could give to a young dancer?
Don’t compare yourself to anyone.
You are unique and you have your own path.
What is the first thing which comes to mind when you say “Freed of London”?
Strength and beauty.
What is your favorite Freed of London item
My personal red sole ballroom shoe. It’s so comfortable and sexy.
I love them!
